In times like these, it's more important than ever to hire slowly and fire fast. Ben Yoskovitz, the Co-Founder of Standout Jobs, explains the benefits of the latter part of this leadership mantra on his Instigator Blog:
Firing people is unpleasant and awkward. And it can get heated – there are lots of emotions involved. But if you know it’s the right move, do it. And generally speaking if you’re trying to decide whether it’s the right thing to do but you’re on the fence — it’s the right thing to do. The fact that you’re on the fence means you have to take action. Don’t delay. Every single day that you delay is hurting your business.
As this is an effective element of employee engagement and even workplace team building, as Yoskovitz also argues in his post, naturally Winning Workplaces' Top Small Workplaces make good use of this practice. Check out the minute-long sound bite from Phelps County Bank CEO Bill Marshall in this post on our blog.
